Friday Nights at Cruisin' Grand
Cruisin' Grand is held every Friday thereafter through September 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Join over 400 pre-1974 American-made hot rods, custom, vintage, classic cars and trucks as they begin the six-month Friday night cruise down Grand in Historic Downtown Escondido, just off old historic Hwy. 395 (the Escondido Boulevard business loop). See one of the best gatherings of classic cars in the country, from works-in-progress to priceless, museum-quality vehicles.

ATTENTION CRUISERS & SPECTATORS!
NEW Adjustments to Cruisin' Grand format, based on test closure Friday, August 22
- Grand Avenue will be closed at 4:00 p.m.
- After 4:00 p.m., ONLY American-made, Pre-74 cars/trucks will be allowed to park on Grand, between Juniper Street and Escondido Boulevard.
- Non-event era vehicles will be ticketed.
- No pedestrians allowed in the streets except at legal crossings and on North or South Broadway.
- Spectator Parking
DETAILS: The Downtown Business Association is pleased to announce the long-desired expansion of Cruisin' Grand to include a dedicated area for pre-74 Classic American Car Parking and Cruising! There will also be two display areas on Grand: one for Reserved Special Attraction vehicles on West Grand west of Escondido Boulevard (entry from South Orange Street), and one for all post-73 Classics, east of Juniper. This new format begins August 29.

Packard Night has become one of the biggest-drawing nights of the season, with more than 30 vintage Packards expected this Friday. These glorious cars take us back to the golden years of Hollywood stars and wealthy industrialists. There will be a special "Packard Parade" at 7:00 p.m., with VIPs and event sponsors taking a loop down Grand in one-of-a-kind Packard convertibles, to the tunes of the Big Bands of the 40s. Please join us for this very special night.
The Awards Sponsors for September 12 are Kragen Auto Parts and Alan Taylor Company, Inc.
Alan Taylor, Escondido-based restorer of luxury classics, will have a special booth set up on South Broadway with samples of Meguiar's products. As his special guest, Alan is bringing in a special guest for our visitors: the illustrator and graphic artist Lyle Fisk, who will be doing a live pinstriping demonstration. Lyle is very well-known as one of California's best pin stripers!
Pre-74 American Classics and Hot Rods arriving after 4:00 p.m. must enter on Maple Street off Second Avenue to pick up their parking "Permit." After 4:00 p.m., if you want to park with a buddy, you are encouraged to enter together at Maple Street. Specialty Cars admitted at the discretion of a Cruisin' Grand official.
For those already parked within the barricades prior to 4:00 p.m., a Cruisin' Grand official will deliver your "Parking Permit." After the barricades are closed, you can save your parking spot with a chair and cruise Grand! Cruising is highly encouraged!
Changes to "Reserved Special Attraction/Interest" area.
The West Grand block between Escondido Boulevard and Orange Street will be open to west-bound traffic beginning Friday, August 29. East-bound lanes will remain closed to through traffic. All Parking in this block has been reserved for the rest of the season by specialty car clubs. 9/12 Miata Club; 9/19 The Dukes; and 9/26 Corvettes of San Diego.
Changes to "Corvette, Viper, Mustang and PT Cruiser" area.
Parking in this block will now be open to ALL POST-73 CLASSICS. This block of East Grand, between Juniper and Ivy Street, also will now be open to through traffic. No barricade closures in this area.
INFORMATION FOR ALL THE DO NOT LIST:
- Do not sit in your chair in the street.
- Do not save spaces for friends.
- Do not park in red zones.
- Do not park in/block business driveways.
- Do not park in the two designated motorcycle parking spaces in front of Pounders.
- Do not jaywalk.
- Do not park in the two handicap parking spaces on South Kalmia (reserved for Sponsor)
- Obey stop signs and traffic signals.
- No open headers.
- No short cutting. No U-turns at Maple, Broadway or Kalmia.
- Obey the law.
SPECTATOR PARKING All visitor parking will be in the municipal parking lots along Valley Parkway and Second Avenues, and on public streets south of Second Avenue.

Classic Car Owners There is no pre-registration required for classic car owners who want to bring their cars, and no areas designated for different models. Just bring your event-era vehicle and park on Grand Avenue. If your car is selected, the judges will contact you (at your vehicle) between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and give you a Winner's Card that will allow you to bring your car back to Cruisin' Grand the following Friday for reserved parking in the Winner's Area, where your winning car can be appreciated all evening long. The Awards Ceremony will occur at 8:00 p.m. that evening.

September is our most exciting month of the season! We are featuring some great clubs and we hope you will enjoy them as much as we do!
• SEPTEMBER 5 •
Cruisin' Grand presents the Classic Fire Truck/Police Car Night, welcoming back the Classic Coach Enthusiasts.
West Grand between Escondido and Orange will be open to post-73 Classics parking. There will be no reserved club in this area on September 5.

Come join us for Packard Night featuring the Packards Int’l Motorcar Club.
SPECIAL ATTRACTION GROUP: San Diego Miata Club
The San Diego Miata Club (SDMC) was founded in 1996 by eleven enthusiastic Miata owners. That enthusiasm has spread over twelve years and hundreds of members. Their club packs the Boll Weevil in Kearny Mesa every month for general membership meetings, but the real fun lies in the numerous driving events, car shows, and parades that the club participates in.

We are excited to bring back the Palomar Mountain V8s for Nitro Night at Cruisin’ Grand.
SPECIAL ATTRACTION GROUP: The Dukes
The Dukes are known for being the oldest lowrider car club in existence. The club started in the late 1950s in Los Angeles with the Ruelas family and has continued to grow to several chapters all over the United States.
The Dukes are proud to represent the lowriding community, as well as setting the example of the importance and power of family.

Join us in congratulating 2008 Cruisin' Grand Award Winners from July, August and September at the second Winners' Circle of 2008. Winners are invited to show off their winning vehicles in the reserved parking area on Broadway from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Visitors Free parking for visitors and all non-Classic Cars, after 4:15 p.m. in all municipal lots along Valley Parkway and Second Avenue. Attendees and cruisers can be-bop to '50s and '60s music played by Dino's Golden Oldies, while friendly downtown business owners keep their restaurants, delis, galleries, antique and gift shops open late. Additional live music locations at Juniper Street and Maple Street.

Cruisin' Grand will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Hula Hoop, the 50th Anniversary of Motown, '50s'60s Costume Contests, plus featuring the entire month of July as Shake-a-Tail Feather month, with your favorite dance tunes of the '50s and '60s!
Special Attraction Area west of Escondido Boulevard for specialty car clubs and attractions that are outside the pre-74 American formula.
More Classics Parking after 6:00 p.m. Comerica Bank and Grand Professional Building parking lots, on the north side of West Grand between Maple and Escondido Boulevard, will open from the Grand Avenue side only for Classic Car parking at 6:00 p.m. (No earlier entry due to business needs.) Please respect this time frame; cooperation by our cruisers will pay off for all.
